This Autism Early Intervention Centre specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis/Verbal Behavior Therapy for individuals under the Autism Spectrum is looking for staff to be a part of this landmark facility for Bermuda. following are the job descriptions for which we are accepting applications. A minimum of 2 years commitment is required for these positions.
SENIOR VB THERAPIST
Tomorrow’s Voices - Bermuda Autism Early Intervention Centre is seeking a professional Senior Verbal Behaviour Therapist (Senior Therapist) with Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior experience in order to supervise and mentor junior staff and provide therapy to individuals with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities. A minimum of 2 years commitment is required for this position. Tomorrow’s Voices serves clients from 2 to 21 years of age in our Early Intervention Centre (EIC) and adults 21 years and beyond in our Thriving Beyond 21 Adult Day Program. As an organization, Tomorrow’s Voices provides services and strategies for clients as they transition from infancy through to adulthood and beyond. The core therapy used at Tomorrow’s Voices is Applied Behavior Analysis with a heavy emphasis on B.F. Skinner’s Analysis of Verbal Behavior. The Senior Therapist must have prior experience in this methodology. Experience working with Individuals with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
Program Development & Implementation
-
Work with and be familiar with all clients enrolled in Tomorrow’s Voices
-
Work one-on-one or in groups with clients in the Centre, home, school, vocational placements, and community environments.

Follow a structured program designed to teach language, play, social, motor, academic and self-help skills to clients with autism or related disorders in our Early Intervention Centre (EIC) and vocational skills, executive functioning skills training, job skills and connection training, culinary arts exposure, fitness opportunities, and community outings to clients in our Thriving Beyond 21 (TB21) adult day program.

Observe and record client’s behaviors.

Develop and coordinate the scheduling, preparation of materials, and facilitating all activities required to successfully provide services to clients with autism and related disorders.

Develop and implement individualized behavioral treatment plans.
-
Monitor clients’ behaviors and progress.
-
Design and implement behavioral strategies with clients and their families within the home, school, work/vocational settings, and/or community environments.

Advise, assist, and update guardians on the progress of their dependent.
-
Prepare strategies and plans for guardians to reinforce programs in other environments.
-
Facilitate Saturday Social Skills group and other outreach and consultation services including in school, in home, in hospital and in community therapies within and outside of normal business hours.
Training & Professional Development
-
Develop and institute ongoing thorough training programs with instruction in autism, Verbal Behavior, Applied Behavior Analysis, skill acquisition strategies, behavior management, data collection, and ethics with all staff.

Participate in ongoing training and attend regularly scheduled team meetings for each client.

Conduct professional development workshops and seminars both internally and externally.

Conduct Professional Development Trainings.
Administration
- Perform audits on data collections systems and daily therapeutic activities.
- Prepare and use daily lesson plans and instructions
- Write quarterly reports on the client’s programme
- Produce monthly status reports on the development of the clients and any centre activities for the Board
- Maintain confidentiality of all client protected health information
Additional Duties
- Work collaboratively and effectively communicate with colleagues, parents, and school personnel
- Collaborate with senior staff and Board of Directors on behavioral services
- Facilitate Speech & Language component of program to internal and external clients
- Any other duties as needed in support of the key objectives

VERBAL BEHAVIOR THERAPIST

A minimum of 2 years commitment is required for this position. Tomorrow’s Voices serves clients from 2 years of age and above, providing services and strategies for clients as they transition from infancy through to adulthood. The core therapy used at Tomorrow’s Voices is Applied Behavior Analysis with a heavy emphasis on B.F. Skinner’s Analysis of Verbal Behavior. The Therapist must have a basic understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior. Experience working with Individuals with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
Program Development & Implementation
- May work with all clients enrolled in Tomorrow’s Voices
- Work one-on-one with clients in the Centre, home, school, and community environments
- Follow a structured program designed to provide clients with the skills to acquire language, play, social, motor, academic and self-help skills to individuals with autism or related disorders
- Work with adult clients in a group capacity to engage clients in life skills training, vocational skills training, social skills training, recreational opportunities, fitness and gardening exposure, take clients on community outings/interactions, and involve clients in job skills/job connections training.
- Advise, assist and update parents and guardians on the progress of the client
- Prepare strategies and plans for parents to reinforce program at home and in schools
- Assist with Saturday Social Skills group and other outreach and consultation services including in school, in home, in hospital and in community therapies within and outside of normal business hours when needed from time to time.

Requirements
SENIOR VB THERAPIST JOB REQUIREMENTS
Educational Requirements:
The post holder must possess a Master's degree in applied behavior analysis, psychology, behavioral psychology, or equivalent. BCBA certification is required.
Supervisory Requirements:
Supervises the work and training of the Therapists and Junior Therapists as well as any clients and volunteers working at Tomorrow’s Voices. Acts as mentor in their development.
Experience Required:
A minimum of three (3) years’ professional and relevant experience is required for this post. This includes previous experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Developmental Disabilities in a group-based setting, preferably in an ABA program or similar environment. A minimum of three (3) years hands-on experience working with individuals and adults with autism using B.F. Skinner’s Analysis of Verbal Behaviour. Knowledge of the research and literature on the causes, correlates, and interventions/services for individuals who have Autism and disorders under the Autism Spectrum is required. In addition, excellent communications and interpersonal skills and a positive service-oriented attitude is a must. The Senior Therapist must be able to design and implement behavioural strategies/programs with the client and their families within the Centre, home, community, school and/or vocational environments. A background in Applied Behaviour Analysis, or Psychology is required. Must be energetic, patient, passionate about improving the lives of clients and have good interpersonal skills. Must be creative and enjoy working with individuals and their families. Must be able to work within a team environment as well as independently. Must be able to work well within a structured environment with policies and protocols. Must have strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate participants. Knowledge of person-centred planning principles and practices, with a commitment to promoting individual autonomy and self-determination. Clinical competence in behaviour therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, and family therapy is required. Familiarity with relevant regulations and guidelines governing ABA programs for individuals with developmental disabilities, including program accreditation standards.

A minimum of 2 years commitment is required for this position. As Senior Verbal Behavior Therapist, the post holder will develop programs for and work with all Tomorrow’s Voices’ clients. The normal work hours are 40 hours per week. Schedules may change regularly to meet the needs of our clients; however, we also offer flexible hours (Time in Lieu) to meet the needs of our employees. The post holder must possess strong leadership skills, excellent organizational and communication abilities and strong negotiation and problem-solving skills. The post holder will be required to work with the minimum of supervision. Familiarity with a computerized office environment that utilizes MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, and other administrative or clinical software is required.

VERBAL BEHAVIOR THERAPIST JOB REQUIREMENTS
