Description
Recognized as one of Montreal’s top Employers, Concordia University is the place to be if you are looking to grow, contribute and innovate in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
Be part of a community that addresses society’s big challenges, supports your personal and professional growth, and makes a real impact in building a more sustainable world.
As a member of our community, you will have access to comprehensive benefits, a defined pension plan and numerous on site well-being facilities such as a state of the art gym and health clinic as well as a variety of educational and cultural opportunities.
NOTE: This posting represents a contract for the duration of 30 months, with the possibility of extension up to 36 months.
SCOPE
The Office of the Treasurer manages a dual mandate covering the University’s pension plan and its endowment, more than $2 billion in combined assets, invested globally across public equities, fixed income, private equity, private credit, real assets and hedge funds through external managers. The private markets programme represents a significant and growing share of the portfolio.
The Senior Analyst works directly with the Director Investments and Deputy CIO, and closely with a team of advisors. They apply a large scope perspective to the full portfolio rather than a single asset class and contribute analytic insights for high level Investment Committees and Board meeting discussions. The role offers broad exposure to manager selection, private markets, portfolio construction, risk analysis and institutional governance, while providing the opportunity to build and enhance the analytical tools used by the office.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide specialized investment analysis, advice and recommendations across all University investment programs to support risk management, dynamic asset allocation, portfolio construction, manager decisions, and the optimization of risk-adjusted returns.
Evaluate total-portfolio performance and prospective risk using performance and risk attribution, factor analysis, scenario analysis, stress testing, financial simulations and peer comparisons against objectives, benchmarks, risk parameters and liquidity requirements.
Serve as the senior analytical resource for the systemic risk management program, including the development, monitoring and communication of portfolio indicators, risk scenarios, and emerging vulnerabilities.
Oversee quantitative monitoring of external managers, including performance, return and risk, mandate adherence, portfolio developments and proposed strategy changes; support manager searches and quantitative due diligence.
Strengthen private markets analytics by monitoring valuations, commitments, capital activity and exposures; reconciling non-marketable holdings; and developing cash-flow and liquidity forecasts.
Enhance and fully utilize third-party analytical tools, data resources, models and dashboards, including requirements definition, implementation, output validation, documentation and data-quality controls.
Produce and validate portfolio, risk and governance reporting for senior management, Investment Committees and Boards; monitor compliance with policies, benchmarks, limits and other governance parameters and escalate material exceptions.
Serve as a key resource providing analytical and operational coverage for the Investment Advisor, Sustainability Advisor, and Financial Analyst, supporting portfolio operations, market and foreign exchange transactions, sustainability data analysis, and the timely completion of recurring deliverables.
Lead data management and process enhancement initiatives, improve repeatability and controls, guide programming work assigned to interns or other technical resources, and perform related duties assigned by the immediate Supervisor.
Support strategic portfolio studies and evaluate investment themes, market and macroeconomic developments, portfolio exposures and concentration risks to identify implications for portfolio positioning and decision-making.
